Team: Maren Mentor
Maren Mentor has been working in the language industry
since receiving her translation and interpretation degree
from a German private college in 1990. Starting out
as a recruiter for multilingual staff in London, UK,
she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1992, and
established herself as an independent contractor for
English into German translation and interpretation.
She immediately realized the lack of qualified resources
in internationalization and decided to focus on the
localization of computer-related material.
In 2004 she opened a satellite office in the Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh Area.
| Her localization experience reaches
from project budgeting and management to linguistic
code review, glossary development, translation
with and without the help of translation memory
tools, script recording and on-line Help compilation
to localization QA using SCM and bug tracking
tools assisting her in fixing linguistic bugs
in a variety of file formats.
In her work she also consults with high-tech
companies on marketing strategies and their implementation
and cultural implications for Germany, assists
in import and export processes and provides project
support throughout the different stages.
She enjoys working in a team and is able to provide
a wide range of localization experts for many
languages and areas. |

the German American Chamber of Commerce, the Consulate
General of the Federal Republic of Germany, hospitals
and high-tech biomedical and IT businesses of the Silicon
Valley.
Her business partners frequently request additional
services and she has been able to assist her clients
among other things with cultural awareness training,
drawing on the experiences she gained during extended
stays in Cameroon, Great Britain, New Zealand, Japan
and many other European countries.
